The MALOSSI aluminum cylinder with 63 mm bore and 14 mm piston pin is designed for the Piaggio Liberty 125 2 V Sport (M 381), built in 2007. The 4-stroke version has a stroke of 58.6 mm, a displacement of 182.67 cc and a compression ratio of 11.15:1.

The cylinder liner has a silicon carbide coating in electroplated nickel form. Cross smoothing is done with two passes of diamond and very limited tolerances. Manufacturing is carried out on numerically controlled precision machine tools. Recalculated and revised heat exchange surfaces support the structural design of the cylinder.

Pistons and piston rings

The ultra-compact piston is made of a special aluminum alloy with a high silicon content and low thermal expansion. Its sliding surfaces have a tin coating. The weight-reduced and reinforced version has three rings. These include a nitrided and chrome-plated steel compression ring, a special cast ring and a three-part wiper ring made of special chrome-plated steel alloy.
