KTM 1290 SUPERDUKE GT [2014-2021] - Z-ring chain with HPE

The Regina Z-Ring chain with High Performance Endurance (HPE) technology stands for innovation and revolutionary advances in the field of motorcycle chains. This special chain no longer requires periodic relubrication, which was previously required every 1,000 km. This represents a significant relief for motorcyclists and saves valuable time and resources.

Extensive testing in the laboratory and on the road has proven that the service life of the HPE chain is at least equal to, if not greater than, that of a traditional, regularly lubricated Z-ring chain. A special feature of this chain is the coating with Tetrahedral Amorphous Carbon (ta-C), one of the most advanced coatings from the group of DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) coatings. This coating is applied to the surface of the chain's bushings and rollers and results in a reduction in energy losses and an increase in efficiency in the secondary drive.

The very high hardness of the coated surface combined with a low coefficient of friction results in improved performance. Additionally, eliminating the need for chain cleaning and preventing lubricant splashes during operation minimizes environmental impact. The development of this innovative coating process was carried out through intensive research and development work by Regina engineers in Italy.
