The VERTEX GP Racer Choice forged piston is intended for the HUSQVARNA FS 450 from the full 2015-2023 model year range. Its design combines an optimized piston crown shape with design details aimed at efficient and reliable operation of the engine.

Function and construction

The design of the piston crown supports a favorable flame front and is optimized to achieve the maximum permissible compression ratio. Reinforcements stiffen the piston structure and reduce piston crown deformation under full load. A surface treatment serves to reduce friction.

The piston has a short piston pin and a chamfer with a DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) coating. The locking ring with a nose on the outside counteracts twisting at high speeds. The extra-thin GNH piston ring made of gas nitrided steel increases wear resistance.
