VERTEX GP Racer Choice forged pistons for GasGas MC 450 F Troy LEE Designs

The VERTEX GP Racer Choice forged piston is designed for use in the 2023 GasGas MC 450 F Troy LEE Designs. The forged aluminum version combines piston compression designed for racing with design details for the highly stressed 4-stroke engine.

Function and construction

The piston crown has been optimized in terms of shape and design to improve the flame front and achieve the maximum allowable compression ratio. Reinforcements stiffen the piston structure and reduce piston crown deformation under full load. A surface treatment serves to reduce friction.

The structure includes a short piston pin and a chamfer with DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) coating. The locking ring has a nose on the outside that prevents twisting at high speeds. The extra-thin GNH piston ring made of gas nitrided steel is designed for increased wear resistance.
