The MALOSSI aluminum cylinder with 63 mm bore and 14 mm piston pin is designed for the Piaggio Liberty 125 2 V Sport E 3 (M 386) built in 2007-2008. The component is intended for competition use at designated venues.

Design of cylinder and piston

The cylinder liner has a silicon carbide coating in electroplated nickel form. The surface is cross-smoothed and processed with two diamond passes. Manufacturing takes place on numerically controlled machine tools with very limited tolerances. Newly calculated and improved heat exchange surfaces support the structural design of the cylinder.

The ultra-compact three-ring piston is made of a special aluminum alloy with a high silicon content and low thermal expansion. There is a tin coating on the sliding surfaces. The piston is reduced in weight and reinforced; its heat exchange surfaces have also been improved.

Piston ring package

The ring package includes a nitrided and chrome-plated steel I-ring, a special cast ring as a second ring and a three-part wiper ring made of special chrome-plated steel alloy. The piston rings are designed for high sliding properties and high mechanical strength.
