MALOSSI crankshaft for Vespa PK XL Plurimatic 125

The MALOSSI crankshaft is designed for engines with a diaphragm or reed valve inlet. Its design supports the interaction of the crankshaft, connecting rod and piston and is tailored to the special requirements of a Vespa engine converted to a diaphragm inlet.

Construction and function

The solid crankshaft is made from reinforced aviation-grade steel and vacuum cast. The “Viper Head” connecting rod combines low weight with the required rigidity. Tungsten inserts contribute to the balanced crankshaft balance. A specially designed bevel at the gear end of the crank ensures that fresh gas absorption under the oil pan is supported.

The thread and wedge position were also designed for high resistance. The circular mass structure supports the development of a high pressure level in the wave and sump configuration adapted to the membrane inlet.
